Appreciation for a delicious meal!
The kids were on a break and my husbands family came down from Pennsylvania for a nice beach vacation at Wrightsville Beach, NC. Everyone was SO excited to see each other, to be at the beach and to get a little R & R at the beginning of May. We planned for weeks, and ended up bringing enough food to last us… FOREVER!
However, no one wanted to cook on the first night after traveling all day, unloading and then getting settled. So, we looked up a few local spots and ended up at King Neptune.
If you remember, we have a family with a few food allergies. Gluten is the most challenging. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place that has real food for everyone, but King Neptune has a variety of appetizers, salads, seafood dishes, burgers, sandwiches, and even hibachi plates! So, no matter how you eat, it seemed like they could make it happen.
We started with a few adult beverages and a few root beers. They had a great drink selection for wine, beer and cocktails. From the mule to the margarita, the drinks were full of flavor, and the perfect strength.
They were really helpful in answering our questions about the menu, and the chef even brought out the list of ingredients for the BBQ sauce to make sure he didn’t miss anything! Such a rare occurrence, but one that leaves a lasting impression on a family that needs to be careful.
A variety of interesting food ended on our table, and it was all very good. Bacon wrapped scallops, Shrimp & grits, fish and kid sliders to name a few. However, nachos is one of our favorites, gluten-free or not! So, when we saw Pulled Pork Nachos on the menu, two plates of it ended up on our table. Smokey, crunchy, spicy, sweet, creamy… Let’s just say that the ones that didn’t order nachos for dinner may have regretted it. So, so good!!!
Not only will I recommend King Neptune to everyone I know, in and out of the food allergy world, but we will also make it a regular spot while on vacation.
